We all do it.
Slip up and say something we aren’t supposed to. NASCAR drivers are no different than the rest of us, just ask Christopher Bell, who just accidentally announced Chase Briscoe’s next career move.
Stewart-Haas Racing announced they will be closing up shop at the end of the season earlier in the month, and Martin Truex Jr. also announced his retirement from Joe Gibbs Racing last week. There’s been a lot of questions regarding both the number 19 car, and the current Stewart-Haas drivers.
So when Christopher Bell was asked where he falls in the leadership roles within his Joe Gibbs Racing team, he says, “The guys with more experience kind of take the role a little bit as afr as what we need in the racecars.” He follows this up with, “whenever Chase comes into the car…,” and that’s it. He tries to play it off with, “Whenever we have a new driver into the 19 car, whoever that is, their experience level will dictate how much input they have into the team.”
Bell says he texted Chase after this interview and told him what happened, however, Chase didn’t see it until hours later as he was dirt track racing and had no cell service. He didn’t watch the video himself until he left the track (after a second place finish). Briscoe says there’s no hard feelings, and “nothing’s official until it’s official.” Chase also says, “I wasn’t really mad. It was kind of funny, I thought.”
