The 2023 NASCAR Cup Series did not have the finish fans and driver Chase Elliott were hoping for. Following a snowboarding injury in Colorado on March 3rd, Elliott missed the first six races of the season with Josh Berry filling in. His injury was towards the top part of his tibia near the knee. Chase stated in an interview prior to his return at Martinsville, that snowboarding is something he enjoys doing and he was not “being wild and crazy.” Chase is a six time Most Popular Driver winner.

Following his April 13th return, Chase had ten Top 10 finishes, five Top 20, three races he did not finish at all, and a single race suspension. Despite Chase finishing in fourth in the final race of the regular season, Daytona, his season came to a disappointing end as he finished just outside the Top 16 and was eliminated from playoff contention. The 2023 season marks the first time in his career that he was not a part of the NASCAR Playoffs.
