Carson Hocevar made his debut in the NASCAR Cup Series in the 2024 season. Hocevar, 21, of Michigan, started his racing career at the age of 7, in the Quarter Midgets and won 15 national championships. After his time in the Quarter Midgets, Hocevar began racing at Berlin Raceway in 2015 and won the track’s Outlaw Late Model Championship.

Hocevar began racing for NASCAR’S Craftsman Truck Series in 2019 and ran for 77 races until 2024 when he signed with the Cup Series. Now that we have a little background on Carson and how he started, let’s get into his season in Cup:

In his season opener at Daytona, Carson was wrecked out on lap 6 and finished the race in 40th position. However, each of his finishes following the Daytona 500 improved, getting his first career top-10 with 8th at World Wide Technology Raceway. During the Olympic break in July, Hocevar ran the Battle at Berlin and won. In addition to the title, he also won $40,000.

In August at Nashville, Carson had an incident with Harrison Burton where Hocevar “intentionally spun Burton under yellow,” as a result of this, Hocevar was fined $50,000 and docked 25 driver points. Following the incident at Nashville, Hocevar went on to get his career best finish of the season at Watkins Glen with P3. Behind the scenes, at Miami in October, the #77 team recorded a 4 tire pit stop in 8.29 seconds, recording the fastest in NASCAR history.

All in all, Carson Hocevar ended his rookie season with a bang. Even after being penalized and losing 25 points, Carson still won the Rookie of the Year title and finished his season with 686 driver points and an average finish of P18.

Congratulations #77 on your 2024 season and earning that ROTY. All those laps from from age 8 until your 36th race in Phoenix in November that completed and checked all of the boxes for that prestigious award must have been very gratifying during that Sunday Race. You had plenty of support and you have provided plenty of accomplishments for your family, friends and teammates to share along your journey. Thousands are so proud of your accomplishments thus far and just wish you the best going forward Cousin Carson.
